McGeeney wins GPA honour
Armagh skipper Kieran McGeeney seems a certainty to win an Allstar
Kieran McGeeney lifts aloft the Sam Maguire Cup
Kieran McGeeney's marvellous season continued on Friday evening when he was named as the Gaelic Players' Association's Footballer of the Year.

The Mullaghbawn native won a Seat Leon for his prize which was presented by Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.

McGeeney captained Armagh to their emotional All-Ireland triumph over Kerry in September.

The Na Fianna clubman is a certainty to pick up an Allstar next month.

Kilkenny's Henry Shefflin was named hurler of the year and also won a Seat Leon.

The prizes were the most expensive individual honours handed out in GAA history.

GPA members voted by postal ballot in what is the only players' player-of-the-year awards in the GAA.
