Magee outclasses Spearman
Brian Magee
Brian Magee is hoping for a fight in America
Brian Magee's all-action style proved too much for Jose Spearman as he comfortably retained his IBO super-middleweight title for the second time.

The Belfast fighter was a clear winner on all three cards.

Magee did his chances of clinching a lucrative fight in the US no harm at all with a gutsy display against his American opponent.

After an even opening round Magee took charge, and his busy work rate eventually wore Spearman down.

Magee shook his opponent with a solid right hand in the 10th and he also piled on the pressure in the next. Magee also totally dominated the last and was a clear winner.

Magee said earlier in the week that he hoped an impressive performance against Spearman would gain him some attention in the US.

"I want to get in and do a good job and then move on and face somebody who the Americans really respect," he said.

"The big fights are in the States and I want them to start getting to know that I'm around.

"I'm still young as a champion but over the next 12 months every fight is going to be big for me and I have to keep progressing.

"I would love to fight in the States and hopefully a year down the line I'll be ready for that, ready for the big names like Joe Calzaghe or Charles Brewer," added Magee.
