However, although they were backed by a majority of county committee members on Tuesday night, it is understood the vote was not unanimous. There had been calls for Tyrone to ditch the two-man tactic and look outside the county for a new manager to take sole charge. But most members believed McCrory and McKenna had done a good job and deserved another crack at bringing a first All-Ireland Championship to the Red Hand County. Strong panel There had been criticism following the surprise All-Ireland qualifying round defeat to Sligo in July. But the Tyrone managers believe they still have one of the strongest panels in Ireland and can challenge seriously for the Sam Maguire trophy in 2003. McCrory and McKenna led Tyrone to the 2001 Ulster title and followed that success with the National League in 2002.
