Jeremy McWilliams had to settle for a qualifying position of 12th for Sunday's Czech Republic Moto Grand Prix.

McWilliams improved his Friday time by .05 of a second but that wasn't sufficient to prevent him dropping from his provisional slot of sixth to the third row of the grid.

Yamaha rider Max Biaggi claimed pole for Sunday's race at Brno with championship leader Valentino Rossi having to settle for third quickest.

McWilliams' best lap was 1.03 seconds slower than the pole position man.

After a disappointing start to the season, the Proton rider has produced improved form in recent races.

Lindsay five-timer

He finished in seventh place in his last race in Germany and his recent qualifying performances have also been encouraging.

Meanwhile, Darran Lindsay claimed a five-timer in Saturday's Irish Championship short-circuit meeting at Aghadowey.

Lindsay's great day brought his total of victories during August to an amazing 15.

The Lisburn rider opened with a double in the Grand Prix 250 class and followed that open with two Richmond 125 championship wins.

He completed a magnificent day with a Regal Championship 600 success.

Waterford man Hilton Hincks secured a treble which included a victory in the Grand Champions race.
