David Jefferies achieved the third Isle of Man TT hat-trick of his career when he won the Senior event on Friday.

Jefferies completed his three-timer in style by becoming the first rider to ever produce a lap of the 37.73 mile course in over 127mph.

The Yorkshire man's second lap of 17 minutes and 47 seconds had an average speed of 127.29mph.

Jefferies had 22 seconds to spare from Ian Lougher at the finish.

Any remote chance Lougher had of challenging Jefferies during the race was ended when the Welshman was given a five-second penalty.

John McGuinness took third place.

Lougher victory

Jefferies started the meeting by winning the Formula One event on Saturday while he claimed the 1000cc Production class on Monday.

Overall, Jefferies has achieved nine wins at the Isle of Man festival while Friday's performance was the fourth win of the week for the Northern Ireland-based Hector Neill Suzuki team.

Earlier, Lougher had claimed his second victory of the week by triumphing in the delayed 600cc Production race.

The Welshman finished 28.5 seconds clear of New Zealander Bruce Anstey after low cloud had led to the event being put back 75 minutes.

Anstey pitted after the first lap to change his visor and as Lougher went clear, Jim Moodie moved into second place on his Yamaha.

Moodie made a lightning stop to refuel but Anstey was still able to slot back into second spot.
