Moodie claims Junior TT title
Scotsman Jim Moody
Jim Moody took the Junior TT honours
Jim Moodie stormed to his eighth Isle of Man TT victory on Wednesday.

Moodie led from start to finish around the 37.73-mile circuit in the four-lap Junior 600cc race.

The Scots ace was helped when his closest rivals David Jefferies and John McGuinness retired.

Jefferies, who also collected his eighth TT win on Monday, dropped out on the first lap at the Sulby straight while McGuinness stopped on lap two.

Gamble

Second was Welshman Ian Lougher while Jason Griffith was third.

Ulster racers Richard Britton and Ryan Farquhar were third and fourth respectively.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's Bruce Anstey claimed his first TT victory when he won the 250cc class.

Second was Simon Smith with Roy Richardson third.

The Kiwi, who won the Production event at the recent NW200 meeting, gambled on riding a two-stroke, but he proved he was well able.

''I've hardly ridden two-stroke 250 machines so it was a gamble.

''But after my first lap in practice I was more than happy to race the machine,'' said Anstey.

History

Only nine riders finished the four-lap race.

But the biggest cheer of the day was reserved for sidecar veteran Rob Fisher.

Fisher became the most successful driver in the 95-year history of the TT course with his 10th victory in the Sidecar B event.

Fisher and passegner Rick Long overcame Dave Molyneux and Colin Hardman in an exciting three-lap race.

In the end Fisher edged out Molyneux by 14 seconds with Ian Bell and Neil Carpenter third.
