McRae struggled to rediscover his old form in Turkey
Kronos Citroen have brought Colin McRae's WRC return to an early end after deciding to leave him out of this month's Rally of Australia.

McRae replaced injured championship leader Sebastien Loeb for the Rally of Turkey, but failed to impress before retiring on the final stage.

Loeb's place in Australia will be taken by Spain's Xevi Pons.

Citroen said Loeb would go for more X-rays on the broken arm he suffered during training last month.

Loeb leads Ford's Marcus Gronholm by 25 points with three rounds of the championship remaining.

McRae, a former world champion, raced in the Le Mans 24-Hour endurance race and desert rallies after ending his full-time rallying career.
