McRae returned to the WRC in September |
Colin McRae believes he has proved a point, despite his hopes of a podium finish at the Rally Australia being dashed by a clutch problem. The Scot was third in his Skoda Fabia with three stages to go before being struck by mechanical failure in Perth.
McRae, who drove in the Wales Rally GB, said: "It was a good fight and we would have been either second or third.
"I think we've proved a point, but the ideal thing would have been to have had the result in the bag as well."
Belgium's Francois Duval secured his first success of his World Rally Championship career for Citroen in emphatic style.
"I'm very disappointed - more for the team than myself," said McRae, winner of this race in 1995.
