Ipswich Witches rider Danny King has called on long-suffering supporters to get behind the team in their final Elite League meeting of the season.

Already certain to prop up the table, Witches host beaten play-off semi-finalists Peterborough on Thursday.

King, 24, told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I just hope they stick with us.

"We're going to be a full team on Thursday and we want to end the season with a win, we're going to settle for nothing less."

He added: "We're going to ride our hearts off and that's all we can promise."

Ipswich will face the winners of the Premier League play-offs for the right to stay in the top flight.

Premier League champions the Edinburgh Monarchs are favourites to clinch the spot in the promotion shoot-out after dominating the sport's second tier this season.

Monarchs' star man Ryan Fisher guest rode for the Witches against Poole, but only picked up one point, a statistic which King said highlighted the void between the two divisions.

"That just goes to show, he's the top rider in the Premier League," he said.

"It goes to show this league isn't easy when people keep saying it is."
