The Stars face Birmingham next in the Premier League |
King's Lynn Stars' new riders will need time to get used to the Norfolk Arena track, according to team boss Rob Lyon. The Stars suffered another home defeat in wet conditions against Edinburgh Monarchs on Wednesday, leaving them ninth in the Premier League table. Lyon told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Hopefully a run of home meetings will give the boys the confidence they need to get dialled into this track. "It's clearly causing them problems at the moment." He added: "But once we get one win under our belts, we'll be away again, hopefully finish fifth or sixth and at least have a say about who we'll face in the shield." The Stars new number one rider Olly Allen had a bad night after the engine on his first bike failed before the meeting and then being knocked off in his first race. The 28-year-old claims track conditions played a part. | We're building for 2011 and Adam Roynon and Lasse Bjerre showed again they should be good assets for us King's Lynn boss Rob Lyon |
"It was a little bit wetter than usual, just different to the last time we were here but we should have adapted more quickly," said Allen. "I never really felt comfortable on my second bike, then that went wrong in heat 13 which meant I couldn't do heat 15, so it was a nightmare for me." The defeat means Edinburgh have moved to within one point of mathematically succeeding Lynn as Premier League champions, but Lyon says the Stars need to look ahead. "When you're in a situation that Edinburgh are in at the top of the table, you get that bit of luck that you need for that boost," he added. "We're building for 2011 and Adam Roynon and Lasse Bjerre showed again they should be good assets for us."
