Former Eastbourne Eagles rider Dean Barker has returned to the club as assistant team manager in a bid to transform their form. The Eagles have lost nine of their last 10 Elite League meetings. Co-promoter Mike Bellerby told BBC Sussex: "Dean's vast knowledge and experience will help to get more out of the riders. "To bring in a former rider with knowledge of set-ups was a natural decision to make." Barker, 39, spent 23 years riding for the Eagles and had a testimonial in March 2009. Eastbourne are currently bottom of the Elite League, but four of their next five meetings are at home. Bellerby said: "If we can do the business at Arlington Stadium we've got every chance of moving up the table with our run of home fixtures." The Eagles welcome Coventry Bees on Thursday.
