Brummies trying to secure future

Birmingham Brummies

Birmingham Brummies have confirmed they have put in a planning application to stay in Perry Barr in the long term.

The club's current three-year agreement with Birmingham City Council expires at the end of the current season.

"I can confirm a new application has been made for permanent consent to secure the long-term future of the club," said promoter Tony Mole.

Mole also revealed that Brummies home nights will switch from Wednesday to Thursday for the 2010 season.

"We have taken the decision to switch to a Thursday," he said. "And I'm sure this will go down well with supporters.

I'm hopeful and confident the council will support our application

"Live football in the Champions League does have an influence on our Wednesday crowds without a doubt.

"And I'm both hopeful and confident that the council's planning committee will support our new application - we have helped promote the Birmingham name on a national basis."

Sunday racing will remain an occasional feature at Perry Barr, for fixtures against the other Premier League sides who ride at home on a Thursday - namely Redcar and Sheffield.
