Brummies streak stopped by Redcar

Ty Proctor
In-form Proctor inspired Redcar to victory over the Brummies

Birmingham suffered their first Premier League defeat in five outings as they went down 49-43 at Redcar on Thursday.

The Brummies were 10 points behind at one stage but reduced the margin sufficiently to claim a bonus point.

Ty Proctor, the young Australian who also rides for Wolves in the Elite League, was a thorn in the visitors' side with 10 points.

He was matched by Ben Wilson for the Bears, while Jason Lyons and Tomasz Piszcz led the Brummies with 13 apiece.

They lacked support with reserve Richard Sweetman unable to reproduce his excellent form of recent weeks, while Robert Ksiezak and James Cockle were also below par.

But the point Birmingham brought back from the South Tees Motorsport Park, coupled with Wednesday's home win over Newcastle, consolidates second place in the Premier League table.
