Stoke's Glen Phillips rode in two meetings without medical approval |
Stoke Potters' chances of reaching the semi-finals of the Premier Trophy have been dented after two results were amended by the Speedway Control Bureau. Glen Phillips rode against Somerset and Scunthorpe without producing a medical certificate, so his points from both matches have been removed. Phillips has also been suspended for one meeting over the issue. He will miss Stoke's first Premier League fixture of the season, against Workington at Loomer Road on Saturday. The return match takes place on Monday 4 May, as the Potters prepare for a spell of six meetings in the space of 12 days. Phillips' penalties mean that Stoke's defeat at Somerset is now 48-35 rather than 48-42 and the score from the victory over Scunthorpe is now 46-41 instead of 54-41.
