Newcastle Diamonds have terminated the contract of team manager Richard Juul just two months into the 2009 season.

"We have tried to work as best as we can as a management team but feel that we can no longer continue," said secretary Andrew Dalby.

"We very much regret having to take this course of action but feel it is in the best interests of the club.

"The decision has nothing to do with on-track results, a situation that Juul has done everything to reverse."

The 38-year-old Dane has had a long association with the Diamonds, having made his debut as a rider in 1991, and had enjoyed several intermittent spells on Tyneside during his long speedway career.

Promoter George English, who stepped aside from the team manager role during the summer, will serve as interim manager for Saturday's trip to Berwick and the visit of Workington to Newcastle Stadium a day later.
