Rossiter is hoping one of four Robins riders win the anniversary meeting |
Swindon manager Alun Rossiter has said this weekend's 60th anniversary meeting is the perfect way to start the new season at the Abbey Stadium. Reigning world champion Nicki Pedersen heads a field which also contains Robins captain Leigh Adams and fellow Grand Prix rider Kenneth Bjerre. Rossiter told BBC Radio Swindon: "It's a great meeting to start the season. "We've got the world champion in town and some real quality riders in the field, it's going to be a great night." Swindon's Australian rider Troy Batchelor has had to pull out of the event because of delays in getting his visa, while Emil Sajfutdinov and Jarek Hampel have also had to withdraw. | It's a tough one to start the year with but I'm certainly going there to win |
Their places will be taken by Ryan Fisher and James Wright, with a further rider to be named. World number six Leigh Adams is hopeful that riding at the Abbey Stadium could help him. He said: "It's a bit of an advantage to ride on my home track. It's a tough one to start the year with but I'm certainly going there to win."
