Burton's lead at the top of the Blue Square Premier was cut to five points after a surprise defeat by Salisbury.
Charlie Griffin and Charles Ademeno missed early chances as the visitors made all the early running.
But Griffin atoned for squandering chances when he converted Sean Clohessy's right-wing cross.
Ademeno looped in a header to double Salisbury's lead and the away side saw out the game despite Burton pulling a goal back late on through Lee Morris.
