Chris Louis has not missed a Witches campaign since joining in 1989

Injury has forced veteran Ipswich Witches rider Chris Louis to miss the 2009 season.

The 39-year-old has not ridden since breaking a joint in his shoulder last April and has revealed he is not yet fit enough to return to the saddle.

He told BBC Suffolk: "I could get away with riding but I'm very concerned I won't get away with crashing."

Louis will help manage the Witches team this season and says he still hopes to ride again in 2010.
