Swindon are hoping McGowan will bounce back from a disappointing 2008 |
Travis McGowan will return to Swindon Robins for a second season. The Australian is the Robins' seventh confirmed signing for 2009, despite a frustrating first year at the club. McGowan was dropped from the Swindon line-up after a string of poor scores, only to be recalled for the team's play-off semi-final defeat. The Robins are hoping his average of 4.25 points will prove a bargain if he can return to the form he showed in previous seasons. Leigh Adams, Troy Batchelor, Simon Stead, Jurica Pavlic, Ryan Fisher and Krystof Stojanowski have already been signed up for next year. That leaves Swindon with two spaces to fill, the first of which is for a rider to share the doubling-up role with Fisher at reserve. The last is the club's number eight, who comes in to replace injured or unavailable riders, and in all likelihood will be either Richard Sweetman or Cory Gathercole.
