Patchett happy with new signings

Swindon Robins co-owner Gary Patchett says he is "very happy" with their team for the 2009 Elite League season.

The Robins completed the signings of Simon Stead, Krystof Stojanowski and Ryan Fisher last week.

With just three more riders to sign up, Patchett told BBC Radio Swindon the team compares well with the opposition.

"There isn't another team I'd rather be in control of at this stage of the season," he said. "I'm very, very happy with what we've got."

Swindon revealed they are in talks with Travis McGowan about a return to the Abbey Stadium in 2009, despite his below-par showing last season.

The Australian struggled for the Robins and was eventually dropped, before making a dramatic return in the play-off semi-final.

McGowan scored well in a poor team performance, and it seems that might be enough to see him back in the line-up for next season.

With captain Leigh Adams, Jurica Pavlic and Troy Batchelor already signed up, that would just leave just two spaces left to fill -another reserve to 'double up' alongside Ryan Fisher and the club's number eight rider who comes into the line-up when others are injured or unavailable.
