Tommy Bridewell from Devizes has agreed to ride for Team Lorenzini in both the Italian and the FIM 1000cc Superstock Championships next season.

It is another step up for the 20-year-old, who spent 2008 riding in the Italian Superbike Championships.

He also took part in the final round of the World Superbike series in Portugal where where he finished 25th.

Bridewell said: "This is the ride I've been after and I know that the team is capable of winning the championship."

Bridewell added: "There's lots of work to do and it won't be easy but I'll simply knuckle down to the task, learn what I need and then give it my best shot.

"After racing in Europe last year, I know virtually all the tracks so that's not a problem and I'm really looking forward to going racing."

The first round of the FIM Superstock 1000cc Championship takes place in Valencia, Spain at the start of April.
