McGowan's average fits with Alden's, making him eligible for a recall |
Swindon Robins have recalled Australian rider Travis McGowan to their squad for next week's play-off semi-final. The 27-year-old had struggled all season after joining the Robins and was replaced at the start of September by Seb Alden, who is now injured. Team co-promoter Gary Patchett told BBC Radio Swindon: "Travis has had the opportunity to clear his head. "He's assured us that he's keen and raring to go and has the opportunity to put a disappointing season behind him." McGowan gets the nod ahead of youngster Richard Sweetman after Alden broke his collarbone in a crash at Coventry on Monday.
Swindon will travel to either Lakeside Hammers or Poole Pirates on Monday, 29 September in the semi-finals. Their destination will depend on the results of Ipswich Witches' double-headed meeting on Thursday against Poole and Coventry Bees.
