Diamonds hope the new signing will improve their form

Newcastle Diamonds have sought to reverse their recent slump in form with the signing of 21-year-old Matyas Hlavacek from Czech side Mseno.

Hlavacek, short-term cover for the injured Christian Henry, will make his debut on Sunday at home to the Redcar Bears in the Tyne Tees Trophy.

Team manager George English said: "Matyas is an enthusiastic young lad, keen to do well in the UK.

"We're delighted to give him the break he wants."

Fellow Czechs Josef Franc and George Stancl are already at the Diamonds, and the latter will be loaning Hlavacek bikes and equipment for the time being.

"We needed to make changes and we welcome Matyas on board for what will be a very successful association," English added.
