Australian Adams first rode for Swindon in 1990 (Les Aubrey) |
Swindon skipper Leigh Adams has become the club's all-time highest scorer after collecting an 18-point paid maximum in Friday's win at Lakeside. The tally helped the Robins to victory and keeps alive their play-off hopes. Adams told BBC Radio Swindon: "I'm not too worried about whether I'm setting new records [but] when I retire it will be something nice to reflect on. "When I race, I go out to win. At the moment the most important thing is to bring success back to Swindon." Adams has now scored 5,482.5 race points in all competitions for Swindon, overtaking former rider Martin Ashby as the club's record holder. During his time with the Robins during the 1960s and 1970s, Ashby scored a total of 5476.5 points. It is the second milestone that current skipper Adams has passed in the last fortnight. He also recorded his 100th maximum in Swindon colours in the home win against Peterborough on Thursday, 31 July.
