Wolves' Iversen impressed with 14 points |
Wolverhampton are facing up to the Elite League's relegation play-offs after suffering another home defeat, this time against Eastbourne. The 48-45 loss was their sixth at Monmore this season, and came despite a late rally from the home side. Trailing by 10 points with four heats to go, Niels Kristian Iversen and Nicolai Klindt started the fight back with an 8-1 maximum in heat 11. But Kenneth Hansen's exclusion from heat 14 killed off Wolves' challenge. Iversen brought back the form he had shown during Denmark's successful World Cup campaign to top score with 14 points, Freddie Lindgren adding 12 and Hansen seven. Scott Nicholls was the Eastbourne leader with 11 points, supported by nine apiece from Lewis Bridger and Edward Kennett. Wolves travel to the Coventry Bees for their next Elite League meeting on Friday, before hosting Ipswich on Monday, 28 July.
