Andersen goes on strike over pay

Peterborough captain Hans Andersen has confirmed he is owed a significant amount of money and will not ride again until the situation is resolved.

Andersen's advisor and Panthers co-promoter Mick Bratley parted company with the club earlier in the week.

The Panthers captain told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "My current status at the moment is that in theory I am withholding my services.

"At the end of the day if you don't get paid, you don't do the job."

Andersen has been with the Panthers since 2006 and admits deciding to withdraw his services was hard.

"The issue is outstanding payments - it's just increased more and more and the amount we are talking about now has just built up so big," he said.

"I don't know what the outcome of this is going to be at the moment, but it doesn't look to bright."

Panthers are next in action at Belle Vue on Monday and will need to find a replacement for Andersen as they look to move away from the foot of the Elite League table.

"I feel really sorry not only for my team-mates but also for the fans because they are the victims," he said.

Reports suggest the club are struggling to cover their costs and have offered Andersen a deal on reduced terms, but despite all the problems the Dane is hopeful his future can be resolved.

"The chances are fairly big. I was prepared to look into a reduced contract for the remainder of the season to help the club," he said.

"However it seems more unlikely when you are owed a lot of money, it would have been a different story if I wasn't owed anything."
