Piotr Swiderski won the decisive final heat |
Ipswich Witches condemned Coventry Bees to a sixth straight defeat with a thrilling 50-43 win after a last-heat decider at Foxhall Stadium. Coventry were still in contention going into the final heat but Ipswich's Piotr Swiderski and Jarek Hampel held off Bees captain Chris Harris for a 5-1. Harris and Rory Schlein top-scored for the Bees, who lost Stan Burza through a back injury after three rides. The result keeps Bees bottom of the Elite League. Witches rider-manager Chris Louis told BBC Radio Suffolk: "The lads went out and did a thoroughly professional job when the pressure was on, it was a fantastic meeting." The Witches next match is at home to Swindon on Monday, 21 July, while Coventry continue with rider replacement for Billy Janniro for Friday's meeting at home to Swindon Robins, although Ben Barker replaces the injured Burza.
