Witches claim Joel Parsons should not have been allowed to ride |
Ipswich Witches say they will fight on in their bid to have their 50-43 defeat against Swindon in April overturned. A Speedway Control Board tribunal ruled the result should stand despite Swindon guest rider Joel Parsons taking part. The row centres around Parsons' average which changed hours before the meeting and would have made him ineligible. Witches rider/manager Chris Louis told BBC Radio Suffolk: "We've spoken to lawyers and it's moving forward. All we're after is fair play and justice." The SCB have said that the late change was due to a delay in the issue of the averages and that both Swindon and the SCB administrator made the decision in good faith, based on the information available at the time. But Ipswich are likely to point to the regulators' admission in their verdict that a breach of the rules had taken place. An annulment of the result would earn the Witches' vital points in their push for an Elite League play-off position.
