24-year-old Korneliussen has become a favourite at Swindon's Abbey Stadium |
Swindon boss Alun Rossiter has backed Mads Korneliussen to appear as a wild card at next month's Danish Grand Prix. The Robins manager was speaking after his rider finished third in the first round of the Danish Final on Saturday. "Mads has made significant progress in the last few seasons," said Rossiter. "His performance on Saturday further emphasises his breathtaking form. "This result confirms that he can mix it with the heavy hitters and he deserves a shot at the big time." Korneliussen finished behind Grand Prix regulars Nicki Pedersen and Hans Andersen, but ahead of the likes of Niels Iversen, Kenneth Bjerre and fellow Robins asset Charlie Gjedde. "Mads is now consistently performing better than many of his compatriots, and his efforts need to be rewarded," added Rossiter. The Danish Federation will decide in the next few weeks which of their riders will be given the chance to ride at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on June 14.
