Panthers away form baffles Swales

Speedway

Peterborough Panthers team boss Trevor Swales has admitted he is finding it hard to identify why his riders are underperforming away from home.

Panthers were thrashed 59-33 at Wolverhampton on Monday and go to Ipswich next Monday.

"At Wolverhampton they were so far off the pace in some heats it was embarrassing," said Swales.

"We just can't seem to put our finger on it and say that's why this rider isn't doing what he should be doing."

Swales is looking at different ways to improve his side's form as they look for their first away win of the year.

He said: "We're actively looking to improve the situation at the moment but I'm not going to confirm or deny that we are looking to change the team around.

There's a possibility of taking a practice session somewhere to try our machinery

"The riders we've got are more than capable of doing the job if they hit form but unfortunately at the moment we've got some who are well off their own capabilities."

However Swales admitted a team change was one of the options he was considering but insisted he was acting cautiously.

"If you're not very careful and you do change you can jump out of the frying pan and into the fire, or you could change and it could work for you.

"We are currently exploring every avenue we possibly can.

"There's a possibility of taking a practice session somewhere to try our machinery and get our boys to try other machinery to see if it can be helped that way around."
