Mildenhall Fen Tigers rider Casper Wortmann will have undergo an operation on Monday after his serious crash at West Row.

The Dane broke his pelvis and suffered internal injuries after a first-bend pile-up in heat 12 of Sunday's Premier Trophy meeting against Birmingham.

Wortmann was taken to Bury St Edmunds for treatment before being transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

The Brummies' Phil Morris suffered rib and wrist injuries in the smash.

Birmingham were leading 42-32 when the incident happened and the result will stand.
