Weymouth Wildcats have confirmed former Stoke Spitfires rider Luke Priest will join the club as their penultimate signing for the new season.

The 22-year-old has resumed his career after recovering from an horrific, life-threatening accident while at Stoke in 2006.

"I really enjoyed riding at the Wessex Stadium circuit in 2005 and can't wait to get started," said Priest.

"I know I can do a good job for Weymouth Wildcats."

Priest returned to action last year riding in seven meetings.

He added: "Throughout the winter I have been working hard on my fitness in preparation for this season.

"I was looking at a slot in the Premier League or a possible return to Stoke, but with no Conference League at Stoke and a Premier League place failing to materialise I found myself without a team."

The accident had left him in hospital for three months, on a life support machine and in intensive care for three weeks.
