The club's landlords at Sandy Lane will not make the Oxford Stadium available for Conference League racing in 2008.

And Save Oxford Speedway spokesman Chris Brown said: "It's a huge disappointment and a massive blow to everyone involved with the club.

"The fight must go on to ensure that the sport isn't lost in the county forever."

Local councillors had been enlisted to help break the deadlock with the Greyhound Racing Association, who own the track, which they have been unable to do.
