Plater won the 2009 British Supersport title with the HM Plant Honda team |
2009 British Supersport champion Steve Plater will return to the series with the Padgetts Honda team after a season in the Superstock 1000 class. The 40-year-old from Woodhall Spa will also race for the Honda Legends team in the World Endurance Championship. He told BBC Lincolnshire: "If I was going to race in Supersport with anyone it would have been with them. "I'm in one of the best places to be and hopefully we can be competitive and have a shot at the championship." Plater won the 2009 British Supersport title with HM Plant Honda before switching to the Superstock class for 2010. But he was sidelined for much of the season following a crash during qualifying at the North West 200 road races in Northern Ireland in May, in which he broke his neck. He returned to action at Cadwell Park in August and finished sixth in the final standings. Plater added: "I'm back to full fitness, I've still got the fire in my belly and I still feel competitive. "It's going to be a busy year with the British Supersport and World Endurance championships. I'm also team co-ordinator for Honda this year and I'll be at the Isle of Man TT ,with the team and also doing TV work. "It'll be quite some year but that's something I thrive on and hopefully it will be a good season."
