Smith has claimed two grand prix wins this season

Oxfordshire MotoGP prospect Bradley Smith says he wishes the season had not just come to an end.

The 18-year-old was runner-up in this years 125cc motorcycle racing World Championship, finishing the campaign with six straight podium finishes.

"I'm disappointed that this is the end of the season. I want more races," he told the BBC.

He is expected to compete at 125cc level to try again for the title that was won by team-mate Julian Simon.

"Second's not bad but first is always better," said Smith.

An official announcement is expected soon from his Aspar Aprilia team.

There had been suggestions that Smith would step up to the new Moto2 series.
