Plater's maiden TT win came in the 2008 supersport race with AIM Yamaha |
Lincolnshire's Steve Plater will ride for the HM Plant Honda team at the Isle of Man TT and Northwest 200 road races in 2009. The Woodhall Spa racer, who has had six victories in the Northwest 200 and one at the TT, will be joined in the team by 14-time TT winner John McGuinness. Plater said: "The Northwest 200 and Isle of Man TT races are close to my heart and a massive part of my season." It is thought that he will shortly reveal his track racing plans for 2009. Plater raced for HM Plant Honda in the 2003 British Superbike championships, taking victory at his home circuit of Cadwell Park. Both he and Lancastrian McGuinness will compete in the Superbike, Supersport and Superstock classes on the Isle of Man and in Northern Ireland. Team manager Havier Beltran said: "We've got an incredibly strong line-up for the roads in 2009, which is a very important year for Honda who are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their first visit to the Isle of Man TT."
