Steve Plater in action during the Supersport A TT |
This year's North West 200 hat-trick hero Steve Plater says he is unsure whether he will compete at next year's event, or at the 2009 Isle of Man TT. "I am not sure whether I will carry on doing the North West and the TT next year. I have still to make a decision. "I have achieved what I set out to achieve at both races but I will assess all my options before deciding," said the Woodhall Spa-based rider. Plater has six North West 200 wins and won this year's Supersport A TT race. The 34-year-old broke his North West duck by winning both Superbike races in 2006 and followed that up with a further success in the big bike class in 2007. He won the feature Superbike event and two Supersport races at this year's meeting. He made his TT debut in 2007 and was awarded the victory in only his second year of competition after Bruce Anstey was excluded from the results for a technical infringment. Plater has also adopted a management role with the AIM Yamaha team this year and is keen to pursue that course at British and world level next season. He has also won the Macau Grand Prix for the last two years, breaking the stranglehold of rival Michael Rutter at the Far East event.
