Oxfordshire's Bradley Smith will bid for the 2009 125cc GP World Championship on an Aspar Aprilia.

The 17-year-old, who previously raced for Repsol Honda before moving to Polaris World Aprilia for this season, has agreed a two year deal.

He told BBC Oxford: "Im really looking forward to joining and working with a team that has won World Championships."

Smith decided to make the move after hearing his current team would not have funding for 2009.

I would love to give them a Grand Prix win before the end of the season

Bradley Smith
"Ive signed a deal to continue riding in the 125cc class next season with an option to ride for them in the 250cc class the year after, " he added.

"Its great to be sorted out already although Im sad that my Polaris World team will not be running next season because of the economic situation.

"I would love to give them a Grand Prix win before the end of the season."
