The 2008 Manx Grand Prix will run from 16-29 August

Bill Bennett, the chairman of the Manx Motor Cycle Club, says the Manx Grand Prix does have a bright future, however the event's format may have to change.

He said: "We have a meeting with our riders liaison and with the ambassadors coming up at the start of the fortnight to talk through our plans for 2009.

"Once we've talked, we will make clear our plans for the event and I hope to show that we are looking to develop it.

"We are certainly not trying to dig a hole and bury it."
