Safest Manx Grand Prix for years

No competitors were killed in the 2007 Manx Grand Prix, making it The Isle of Man's safest motor race in 14 years.

The worst year for fatalities during this 14-year period was 2005 when 10 competitors died in the TT and six at the MGP.

Most fatalities on the mountain course have occured at Douglas Road corner in Kirk Michael and Quarry Bends.

The news comes from the Manx Organisation for Motor Sport Medical Officers and Paramedics.

The slowest corner on the circuit is Governor's Bridge which is also the site of most accidents, although the majority are minor.

Use of the air med helicopter decreased in 2007. Hospital admissions and surgery numbers were also down, making the 2007 Manx Grand Prix the safest for years.
