Dunlop considering IOM TT return
Robert Dunlop
Robert Dunlop has enjoyed 125cc success in recent years
Robert Dunlop is pondering a return to the Isle of Man TT following the news that a 125cc race held over the Billown course will be part of the June races.

"I have nothing agreed for next year yet but it is something I will consider as I have had a lot of success at the Southern 100 meeting on that circuit.

"Personally I don't think it will work as it will not have the same feeling as winning a TT on the Mountain Course."

Dunlop will ride a 350cc Aermacchi in the Junior Classic Manx Grand Prix.

"I was asked to ride this machine at this year's Manx Grand Prix and said no but I have decided to give it a go next August," said Dunlop, who has confined his efforts to 125cc machinery in recent years.

The former British champion added that the TT organisers will "do well" to run their June meeting as efficiently as the Southern 100 in July.

"TT racing on the Mountain Course has a special nostalgia about it and is the ultimate test of man and machine.

"I don't think a TT race on a four-mile course, presumably over a shorter distance, will have the same feel about it.

"In my opinion, to hand out TT replicas for a race of that kind is not a good move."

Dunlop has five TT wins to his name and last competed in the event in 2004.
