Plater won BSB races at Oulton Park in 2003 and 2004 |
Kirkby-on-Bain's Steve Plater is aiming for a third successive podium finish in round seven of the British Supersport Championships at Oulton Park on Sunday. Since switching from Superbikes, Plater has won at Snetterton and taken second place at Mallory Park for AIM Yamaha. He said: "I enjoy Oulton Park, it has undulations, slow corners and very fast straights but it can soon catch you out as I've found to my cost in the past. "It's a circuit that needs the utmost respect but it can be very rewarding." Meanwhile, Ruskington's Rob Frost is looking to score points for the fourth race running on the Buff Racing Triumph. In the superbike class the Louth-prepared HM Plant Hondas of Cal Crutchlow and Leon Haslam will be hoping to reduce the advantage of Shane Byrne who leads the series by 97 points from Crutchlow after eight wins and four second places from 12 races. The meeting at Oulton Park will feature two rounds of the National Superstock Championships, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. The Lincolnshire trio of Lee Jackson, Peter Hickman and Ben Wilson will all be looking to add to their points tally, with Boston rider Wilson also racing in the R1 Cup.
