Eugene Laverty has seven championship points to his name

Toomebridge's Eugene Laverty finished in 16th position, one place outside the points, in Saturday's Dutch 250cc grand prix at Assen.

The Blusens Aprilia rider had qualified in 18th place on Friday.

The race was won by Spaniard Alvaro Bautista on an Aprilia with another Aprilia rider, Thomas Luthi, second.

Marco Simoncelli completed the podium on a Gilera, Alex Debon was fourth on an Aprilia and another Spaniard, Hector Barbera, fifth on another Aprilia.
