Dan Linfoot led the championship after two races |
Knaresborough's Dan Linfoot said he was not satisfied with his sixth-place finish in the fourth round of the European Superstock 600 Championship. The 19-year-old, who is currently third in the standings, was racing at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany for the first time. He told BBC Radio York: "I know that sixth place isn't really a good enough place to win championships with." "The aim is to win the Championship for the team and, for me, to move onwards." Linfoot's lap times became quicker at the end of the race as he became more familiar with the track and was able to close in on the leaders. He moved up to fourth in his penultimate lap and threatened to overhaul third-placed team-mate Rea. | We know the circuit and we know the settings for the bike so I think we can go there in a really strong position |
Linfoot explained: "It looked at one point as if we were going to maybe touch and then we'd both crash so I had to hesitate and give him the position. "That meant I had to go wide in the corner and two riders behind me came through and I ended up sixth. "If it wasn't for that I could've had fourth place but hindsight is an easy thing and now we put it behind us and crack on with the next race." Linfoot's next Championship race is at Mizano in Italy on Saturday. And Linfoot added: "I'm in an optimistic mood because we've tested there previously. "We know the circuit and we know the settings for the bike so I think we can go there in a really strong position and hopefully come away with another win."
