Knaresborough's Linfoot is hoping for a strong debut season

Knaresborough motorcyclist Dan Linfoot earned a place on the podium by finishing third on his debut in the European Superstock 600 in Valencia.

The 19-year-old took 16 championship points for his Beowulf Racing team and said: "The aim was to be on the podium so I'm really happy with the result.

"I didn't know what to expect so I just pushed as hard as I could and found myself fighting in the top six.

"To get 16 points first time out is a great start for myself and the team."

He added: "In the final laps there was a lot of bashing and I was happy to keep it upright and score some good points.

"Some of the title favourites have already thrown it away by crashing out."
