Linfoot has had two podium finishes in the first two races |
Teenage Knaresborough motorcyclist Dan Linfoot leads the European Superstock 600 Championship after winning in record time in Assen, Holland. The 19-year-old set a new lap record of one minute 44.984 seconds in only his second race in the competition. The win takes him five points clear at the top after two rounds. "My last win was nearly two years ago in the European 250 Championship so it feels pretty good to stand on the top step of the box again," said Linfoot. The win is the first of the season for his team, Beowulf Racing, while his team-mate Gino Rea finished in ninth place. Linfoot added: "I knew I had the pace to run at the front because we'd already put in a lot of laps on old tyres and I could still do the times. "I knew I'd go even quicker in the race but to set a new lap record is pretty special. "The team have put a great bike underneath me and I'm just very happy to be full of confidence after what was a tough year in 2007."
