Bruce Anstey bounced back from being stripped of an Isle of Man TT win on Monday to triumph in Wednesday's Supersport race on the island.

Relentless TAS Suzuki team rider Anstey finished first in Monday's Supersport race but was later disqualified because of a technical infringement.

However, Anstey finished 34 seconds ahead of Yamaha rider Ian Hutchinson on Wednesday with Ryan Farquhar in third.

Ian Lougher took fourth while Michael Dunlop finished an impressive eighth.

Anstey, who was claiming his seventh TT win, set a new lap record for the race of 125.36mph on the second circuit on Wednesday.

Harker Kawasaki rider Farquhar finished 47 seconds behind the winner but another fancied rider Guy Martin is still looking for his first TT victory after placing sixth.

Honda rider Gary Johnson took fifth while Adrian Archibald finished just behind his fellow-Ulsterman Dunlop in ninth.

Dunlop opted to compete in the Isle of Man despite the death of his father Robert at the recent North West 200 in Northern Ireland.

Steve Plater, who was handed Monday's Supersport victory after Anstey's disqualification, retired on the opening lap while Keith Amor and John McGuinness also made early exits in Wednesday's race.

Anstey said that he had been determined to "put it all together for the team" after Monday's disappointment.

"The bike was flying all the way to the end. It probably would even have been a bit quicker if it hadn't been so windy," said the New Zealander.

"I just wanted to show everybody that the bike is perfect and that the team is perfect."

Farquhar was also in buoyant mood after claiming his first podium of the week.

"Before I came here, I thought if I got into the top six I'd be over the moon but to get on to the podium is something I'm very proud of," said the Dungannon rider.

Also on Wednesday, the Isle of Man's Nick Crowe completed a double in the sidecars.

Crowe and passenger Mark Cox, who won the first sidecar event on Saturday, finished 10 seconds ahead of the pairing of Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle.

John Holden and Andrew Winkle took third with world champion Tim Reeves in sixth.
