Plater gets airborne over Ballaugh Bridge (Baylon McCaughey) |
Kirkby-on-Bain's Steve Plater says he was amazed by his victory in Monday's Supersport race at the Isle of Man TT. Bruce Anstey finished first but was excluded for a technical infringement, giving Plater his first TT win in only his second year at the event. He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "My plan was to win one in years to come, I didn't expect it to come this fast." Plater races again for AIM Yamaha in the Junior TT on Wednesday and in the blue riband Senior TT on Friday. However the Lincolnshire racer, who also came eighth in the Superstock race on Monday, has ruled out the possibility of repeating his success. "I've said all along it's still a steep learning curve this year," Plater admitted. "I'm not too worried if I don't finish on the podium in the next two races as long as I keep learning."
