Eugene Laverty's best finish this season is a 14th in Jerez |
Toomebridge rider Eugene Laverty claimed one world championship point by finishing 15th in Sunday's French 250cc Grand Prix at Le Mans. The race was won by series leader Jorge Lorenzo of Spain on an Aprilia followed by Andrea Dovizioso from Italy on a Honda with Alex de Angelis third.
The LCR Honda rider, who had qualified in 19th position, had picked up two points at Jerez earlier in the season.
Laverty has finished 17th twice and taken an 18th in his other three races.
After Sunday's race Laverty told the BBC that "things are starting to come together now".
"I knew this would be a good Honda circuit and I can't help feeling that my result could have been better, maybe 13th, but at least I took a point.
"I still have a lot of learning to do but hopefully I will be further up the order by the British Grand Prix at Donington."
