Toseland had 12 podium finishes for Ten Kate Honda team in 2006 |
Former World Superbike champion James Toseland believes he can again launch a serious title challenge in his second season with the Ten Kate Honda team. The 26-year-old from Sheffield made his debut for the team last this year and finished second in the rider standings.
"As a team we are working well together and I feel confident about the year ahead," said the 2004 champion.
"Last year was difficult because I had a new bike and team to get used to. I was always playing catch-up."
Toseland and team-mate Roberto Rolfo have just finished a three-day test in Qatar, the venue for the opening race of the 2007 campaign in February.

Toseland added: "We've had a really good test, but we still have a lot of work to do.
"The weather conditions in Qatar are so extreme that we can't predict what will happen on race day, but I think that we are well prepared."
Toseland, who had three wins in his 12 podium finishes in 2006, record the fifth quickest time at the Losail circuit with Rolfo 10th.
Reigning champion Troy Bayliss set the fastest time on his Ducati Xerox bike.
Ten Kate Honda team manager Ronald ten Kate said: "We have definitely taken steps forward with the electronic system and chassis.
"I am pleased because I feel that the set-up was the most important factor to focus on at this test.
"The riders and team have worked very hard, which means that we have reduced the areas that we still need to work on."
